Similarities

Infant Joy and Infant Sorrow are similar do to the author talking about a newborn who just came  into the world.  It also speaks about their reaction when they first came out. How one was happy and sweet, while one was loud and screaming. Though both do have differences, it does not mean that one of them is more superior to the other.  This only shows that each one of the poems Is the missing piece that completes the other. It is only through their  differences so you can  really appreciate the good features in each one of them and that they are meant to be read side-by-side and not separately.

Infant Joy and Infant Sorrow are different do to the author giving different perspectives on how the baby reaction is dealt with the bond of the mother and child. In Infant joy the mother is telling how she is happy and that her baby name is joy which say a lot about their bond. It also concentrate more on the happiness, love and magic of new life entering the world. In Infant Sorrow it talks about how the baby was brought into a dangerous world. The mother groaned which captures the pain of childbirth which the other does not showcase. So it’s just really all the things good that came from a baby entering the world in one poem and Vice versa.
